Happy Homemaker Monday

Hello Friends ☀️

I hope you are all doing well!!
I thank you all so much for the continued love, support, prayers and positive thoughts over my Mom. She went for bypass surgery last week and there was a complication. It got really scary for several days. But she is in the ICU and making great progress now. They weren't able to do the bypass and now may look at other options for her blockage. So please keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming as she still has a road ahead of her.

I have basically been living at the hospital. I took yesterday off and it was nice to have a little break. Matt and I slept in, ran errands, hung out at both of our houses to get some things done. Went out for a wonderful brunch. Went on a 3 mile walk. Played cards. Vegged and watched tv. Sat out on the deck enjoying the bay and catching up. It was just one of those perfect Sundays and filled my batteries back up.  It's been wonderful having both of my kiddos here too. And Matt has been such a support. Rubbing my back every night and just doting on me. I am so grateful he's in my life - but especially right now. I'm heading up to the hospital soon but wanted to do a quick HHM - probably my only post this week, just to stay connected a bit. I will try to come visit you all when I get a chance.

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING:

toast, a piece of watermelon, coffee

ON MY TO DO LIST THIS WEEK:

be at the hospital for my Mom - and not worrying about much else. Will try to do some hospice work from home and some home projects a bit.

THINKING ABOUT:

God guiding the doctor and team to the best choice for the next steps for Mom.

CURRENTLY READING

Been getting in lots of reading at the hospital. My current book: Fresh Water For Flowers by Valerie Perrin is so good and really different.

The writing is beautiful and it's kind of an intriguing story - takes place in France about a woman taking care of a cemetery in a little town in the countryside of France, and dealing with her past...while helping others deal with their grief as each new kind of case comes into the cemetery. Also, mystery involving a police detective coming to spread his mother's ashes on a stranger's grave per his mom's request and him trying to solve the mystery behind it. Funny, sad, sweet, intriguing so far.

ON THE TV TODAY:

Grace & Frankie and Blown Away - both series on Netflix,  Becoming Elizabeth,  America's Got Talent, Big Brother, Who do You Think You Are?, Grantchester

ON THE MENU THIS WEEK:

    MONDAY -

TUESDAY -

WEDNESDAY -

THURSDAY -

FRIDAY -

*not sure about meals this week, but I didn't make pasta dinner last week so probably will do that. Also, Matt and I went to meat market yesterday to get some things to throw on the grill -including cheddar bacon pinwheels and southwest 3 cheese brats. Will do salads and veggie side dishes.

TO RELAX THIS WEEK I WILL:

talk to Matt & gf's, read, take walk or play with Ruby in the yard, get a back rub from Matt - Lol

TIPS OR SOMETHING TO SHARE:

thought this a good tip for all of you still fighting the heat

not sure if it's true, but maybe a good back-to-school tip

FROM THE CAMERA:
Caught a shot of Annie heading out on her first solo outing after getting her driver's license

We had such a beautiful walk yesterday 💗

A neighbor bestie went blueberry picking and gave me some of the fruits of her labor

PRAYER LIST:
For my Mom's doctor and team to be guided by You, Lord. For my Mom to be able to have her heart fixed and heal well from it all.
For peace and healing in our world. 🙏

PRAYER, INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE OR DEVOTIONAL:

I hope you have a great week Friends. I'm sharing with Sandra of Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.

  1. Oh my sweet friend, my heart hurts for you. I just said another prayer for your mom, and asked the Lord to guide the doctors as well, to give them the wisdom to find the right treatment for your mom. She is in God's hand.

I would take your weather any day, send it here, I'll send you mine hahah

Have a blessed week Carrie, and remember to just breathe and trust, everything is already taken care of.

  5. Oh sweetie, I am so sorry! I am keeping your mom in my prayers! I am glad you took some time to recharge your batteries. The one thing I have learned all these years as a caregiver is that you're no good for those you care for if you don't care for yourself first.

WOW, that info on gatorade is really good to know! I LOVE all your pictures too. That chipmunk is just so cute.

I know you hate the long winters, but I really can't wait for fall to get here! I'm already planning BLOGMAS posts trying to get my mind off the heat.

Have a WONDERFUL week and prayers for your momma! Sending BIG hugs.
