Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Monday Friends!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It was a lovely summer weekend here. Perfect weather and a lot of fun. We did get the pool up last week. Annie and I did it ourselves. I knew the back hill was uneven, but didn't realize how much until we started filling it. So for this year we have a shallow end and deep end. 😂  I'll have someone come fill part of the hill in next year and even it out before we put it up. For this year it is what it is. The kids have been loving it and Annie had her friend over on Friday and Aaron had his girlfriend here too and they all swam around and played games. Then Saturday Annie and I went out with my bestie and her family for dinner and mini golf. Yesterday Ad came over and we had a family dinner and played some games. So all and all and nice weekend.

On a side note I wanted to share something with you my dear Friends. You have been so wonderfully supportive with prayers and good wishes back when I shared my divorce news. So I wanted to share that I have a new special friend. We've been talking for a few months and have started going out on some dates. Taking it slow but we have a lot of fun when we hang out. So just want to thank you so much for all the loving prayers and support! It feels so nice to be coming out the other side of pain and even grief and be enjoying life more again ❤️

AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW

It's a gorgeous perfect sunny day! We'd had such muggy warm weather as much of the country had, and now it feels so pleasant. The sun is shining and the sky is blue with big clouds.

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE

Tidy and bright. I still have some patriotic decorations up and may take them down this week when I clean for company coming next weekend. I can't believe how fast this summer is flying and it's almost August! I have seen a lot of Fall decorations out in the stores already and school lists out for kids' supplies

FROM THE CAMERA

The Beast - Lol As you can see it's a pretty big pool (18 footer) - in second pic look just above Ruby further up the hill

mini golf with friends - Annie lining up her shot

More flowers popping out all over 😊 🌸

Ruby walks have been wonderful

These are some views from the bay down by our dock. As you can see the water is really high and comes right up to the top of our dock. There have been gorgeous summer twilights on the bay this past week.

My happy place and a bit of heaven on earth 🙏

Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

Hello Friends!

For those of you that had asked me for this recipe I'm finally sharing it.  I don't have any pics of it unfortunately so I'll share a fun bbq scene, as I think these sandwiches are perfect for a summer bbq. 😉  I got this recipe from my good friend Billie Jo from the blog Afternoon Coffee and Evening Tea. You can find her here.

Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

6 boneless chicken breasts
12 oz bottle of BBQ sauce
1/2 cup of Italian salad dressing
1/4 cup of brown sugar
2 TBSP worcestershire sauce

Spray your slow cooker with cooking spray. Layer in chicken breasts. Mix other 4 ingredients and pour over chicken. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours until done and then shred chicken breasts with a fork. Serve on buns and enjoy! 😋

*I have also doubled the sauce of this recipe and poured over 8 to 10 chicken breasts for a bigger crowd.

Happy Homemaker Monday

Hello my Friends and Happy Monday to you!

It's been a hot one in the northwoods today. And muggy too. Storms brewing on the horizon. I got going late today as the kiddos and I got back from a trip to Green Bay to visit relatives last night. So once I got rolling I spent a lot of today working around the house to catch up. Also, Annie worked on taking down our trampoline today. It was in rough shape and not too sturdy anymore. She really wants to get a swimming pool in that spot instead. On a day like today she makes a good argument! Lol So we're going to go price some out and we'll see. 😉

It was so wonderful visiting with relatives this weekend. We played some mini golf, had a pool party at my Aunt's condo, went out for yummy meals & lots of visiting, played games and had brunch at my cousin's house yesterday and watched Wimbledon. All and all a wonderful weekend that flew by! I hope you had a great weekend too, and are now ready for a new week.

RIGHT NOW I AM:

listening to classical music on pandora and I can hear Annie's parakeets chirping in her room now and then 😊

AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW

It's getting cloudier out, but the sun pops through at times. It's getting breezier too. I looked at the radar and storms will be heading our way tonight and it has that feel in the air

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE

pretty tidy now that I worked on catching up around here all day. Right now the sun is streaming in and Ruby is lounging in the other room right in a sunbeam

ON THIS WEEK'S TO DO LIST:

Annie's hockey camp practices, potential volleyball practices, hospice volunteering plus extra time up there this week, Ruby's haircut, Annie help at my Mom's, we might go golfing with my Dad, bring FIL a meal, and I'm determined to go through my big master closet and clean things out!

NEW RECIPE I WANT TO TRY THIS WEEK:

I will share that slow cooker BBQ shredded chicken recipe tomorrow finally!

TIP OF THE WEEK:

FROM THE CAMERA

It's so weird not to see the trampoline there anymore. Also thought I'd share some pics of summer life around in flowers -my begonias have especially been the star of the show lately:

Road trip selfie from the car

My poor Aaron got poison ivy (i think working in our yard) so we did take a side trip to the urgent care during our trip

My cousin and his wife have a gorgeous home on a cul de sac in Green Bay. They had us over for brunch yesterday and they have the most unique room off of their lower level game room. You go down more stairs to a room that has no windows and is sound proofed with cork kind of walls and has half a basketball court in it. The house came that way but it works out great as my cousin (who is like 6'2") was a big basketball player a lot of his life. Their dog Rosie loves it and "plays" too! I'll include some video below I took so you can see what I mean.
