Happy Homemaker Monday

HAPPY HOMEMAKER MONDAY

Hello Friends!

Sorry I'm getting to this late today. It's been so wonderful having both of my kiddos around...and enjoying time with them. However, I've also been nursing a patient. My poor Annie got covid. A gal on the hockey team had it and it spread like wild fire and quite a few players got it too. My Mom and step Dad and Bro and SIL were just showing up for Christmas Eve brunch when Annie came up to me and told me she had a sore throat. I immediately had her mask and she spent the rest of the time away from all of us. She has now been really sick and I bring her in tomorrow for testing and I have no doubt she has it. I'm so glad she's vaccinated, as she's pretty miserable....but I bet it would be a lot worse if she hadn't been. So we didn't get together for anymore gatherings and had to just hand over my Dad and step Mom's gifts and the kids weren't able to go with their Dad. So we have just been lounging and cozy. Eating lots of holiday yummy. And Annie has been staying in her room and doing lots of resting. I wear a mask when I bring her anything and she wears a mask if she needs to go anywhere in the house. I've been lysoling everything too! Lol Aaron and I have continued to be fine. Darn covid anyways!! Ugh!
I hope you all had a healthier Christmas. And have been able to have a wonderful and peaceful time with those you love. 🌟

But I have a few photos from our one gathering that still felt like Christmas minus poor Annie. You can see them below. As well as my Christmas gift from Matt. It blew me away. He is so thoughtful and kind and such an amazing friend already. He's helping me heal lots of things and I think stealing my heart in the process. ♥️

I feel so bad that he's been having a hard time getting home today. It's been blizzarding in a lot of our area. He was in AZ for Christmas and got stuck after one flight and only part way home. Then his flight today got canceled too! He finally had to rent a shuttle to drive him the rest of the way home. Poor Guy!

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING:

yogurt, coffee

ON MY TO DO LIST:

mainly to nurse my Annie, some hospice work from home, usual domestic goddess duties - I think Aaron is loving Mom's home cooking and laundry service 😉

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE

Overall tidy, but I haven't been knocking myself out. Lol And I need to do another load of dishes before I start dinner. It looks pretty as it's getting dark now that it's late in the day and I have the tree on and all the lights that come on with timers glowing. I'm listening to cool guitar music Matt turned me on to recently. I can still hear the wind howl outside at times. Feeling very cozy

TIPS OR SOMETHING TO SHARE:

FROM THE CAMERA:

Loving the cozy moments and neighbors across the bay were working on a skating rink the other day

My taste of home subscription box came (I get it every 3 months) and knocked it out of the park again with great things I will absolutely use!

I made my Gram's cut outs because it's tradition - along with her homemade cream cheese frosting. They are such a favorite for Christmas! But then I had to order cookies from my amazingly talented friend with the cookie co. I kept some but I mainly love to give hers as gifts. 🎁

We had our Christmas brunch at least. I was able to use my new PW Christmas dishes for the first time. I love them! And the matching mugs to go with wassail. I have a recipe that is the best if you're interested. And I made a big egg bake with the Christmas ham. So yummy!

Been doing other yummy cooking including making cardamom bread french toast the other night

And then the blizzard rolled in and we've been staying extra snuggly.

And now to my Christmas gift from Matt as promised. I had boxes I had to open in order. First was this...and the note said "you'll probably need this". (it's a tuner) Then the next gift was a music book for a certain instrument - so then I kind of knew. The note said "you've always wanted to learn"

And the last box had this:

A baby Celtic harp. Months ago we had a conversation about things on our bucket list. I had mentioned it would be a dream to get a harp and learn to play. In that conversation I whined that it would probably be too hard at this stage of the game to learn...and I remembered him telling me that I should always chase my dreams. And that he would love to help support whatever dreams I have. So that memory came back to me when I opened and needless to say, I cried in front of all of my family. Lol It really touched my heart. And I just LOVE my beautiful new harp! I figured out how to tune it and play some very basic tunes (think Twinkle twinkle little star Lol)

PS: Here's more pics of my cutie when he took his adorable folks and family out to a swanky steak house for his parent's 47th wedding anniversary:

♥️ ♥️ ♥️

Happy Homemaker Monday.

HAPPY HOMEMAKER MONDAY

Happy Christmas week Friends!

I'm getting to this late today as I was running around early and Annie is off school and had hockey. So just now sitting down to do this post so I could get in HHM and a last post before the holidays. It's going to just get busier now!

I hope you've been enjoying the beauty and wonder of the season. For me it's all about celebrating the birth of that baby boy long ago, that I believe came into this world to save us all. But it's also about being reflective in many ways, counting our blessings, being with family and friends, and all the magical things too.....like Christmas trees and candles glowing, music, snowfall, peace and goodwill. ✨

I've been busy enjoying some of that magic. Time with friends and family. Final shopping and errands while Christmas lights glow on people's houses that I drive by. Going to our local big Christmas display. Annie's hockey games. All of it feels more fun and magical this time of year. And my sweet boy comes home from TX late tonight! So all of my chicks will be back in the nest for Christmas and New Year's. 💕

I know this time of year can be difficult for many, though, too. Those that are going through a hard time. Many may feel sad, lonely, depressed...this time of year can bring up so many emotions for various reasons.  I think this is the first Christmas in years that I have not had to fight a lot of very difficult emotions. I still have moments that hurt. Remembering those I've lost and what my life used to be with Ad. But this is the first year it hasn't felt like a weight on me. I have a nostalgic or sad moment. I feel it... and then I thank God for my current blessings. And I thank Him that I had such a wonderful life once when our little family was whole. I fight to preserve those memories as they were and not let his current choices mar or taint them. I have been blessed beyond measure in so many ways and I choose gratitude always.

And my extra blessing this year is Matt. 😍 6'2" and eyes of blue. Lol We have definitely created a wonderful friendship and bond. We will get some real dating time in the New Year and I look forward to the time ahead. He is currently in AZ celebrating Christmas with his parents, 105 year old Grandma and his Aunt. I share a little more about him and some pics later in the post. ♥️

TIPS OR SOMETHING TO SHARE:

I may have shared this before? But I saw it and it reminded me because I need to grab green pepper for some things I'm making this week, and thought it might be helpful to you too 😊

FROM THE CAMERA:

Enjoying the glow, beauty and peace around here

Annie & I recently had dinner with a bestie and her daughter and then went to the local holiday Christmas lights display here. Such a fun night!

Getting ready to head to hospice house and a little peek at Christmas there

A girlfriend and I went for sushi dinner and to Annie's hockey game another night. I told you I've been festive 😊

My Mom came to hang out one night to visit, play cards and I made us yummy hot toddy's

The above are some pics of Mr Matt with his Mom and Aunt, in AZ, at surlatable store and cooking class there. You can see the menu and a photo of what they made. He said it was really fun! I love that he enjoys a lot of similar interests with me. Cooking, the outdoors, sports & being active, travel, time with family, being on the water, pontooning, cards and games. He has faith and knows how important mine is to me and is very supportive.
He's a little younger than I. He has been divorced a while too. Kids weren't in the cards for him and he is good with that and very open to the fact that mine mean the world to me. He is in finance. He's very easy going, open to new things, bright, kind, funny, warm and just uncomplicated and I have absolutely loved the time we've shared so far. As you can see he sent me some Christmas gifts. Lol Don't worry, I got him something too. 😉 🎁

Again, taking things slow and just enjoying time with him so much.  You may be hearing more about him in the future so I thought I should at least give you a real introduction. So many of you have been so kind and supportive of me along the hardest parts of my personal life journey, so I want to share more of the good stuff too. I appreciate you friends more than I can say!! 💗

As you can see the bay is completely frozen and open for business - walking and skating. Need more snow then I'll have skiers too.

We had quite an adventure working on our Christmas card this year. Lol As you can see, Ruby didn't like her new hat. I thought you'd get a kick out of it and our outtakes. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and pray you have a very healthy, safe, and fun holiday!! xo
