Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Monday!

Sorry I'm running late today. I ran around with my Mom all day today. We did some errands together, had lunch and even a little bit of fun shopping. We hadn't done that since before covid! So it really felt like a little treat. I also apologize for not getting around to visit you last week. Scott came for a visit and was here until Saturday. It was so nice and we had such a fun time. He's already back in AK working away. And then we celebrated my Dad's bday yesterday over here with a BBQ and fire on the deck. So needless to say it was a very busy final week of summer. Lol But I promise I will come around and say hello and catch up with you all this week!! ♥️

I can't believe that it's going to be September tomorrow! It feels like the weather just got the memo too, because it's really been a warm and beautiful summer here...especially for the northwoods. But all of a sudden the nights have gotten a lot cooler and the temps this week are looking more like 60's. Hello Fall! I welcome you now and I'm ready for all of your goodness. I need to get my favorite cozy mugs handy for hot teas and cocoas. Start pulling out some cozy sweatshirts and sweaters. Dust off the comfort food recipes. And get out my Autumn decorations. I've even picked up a couple new things recently. Yay for my favorite season!! 🍁 🌻 Do you love Fall as much as I do? Or is another season your fave?

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING

yogurt, watermelon, coffee

HOW I AM FEELING THIS MORNING:

It's late afternoon now - but I'm feeling grateful for a very fun day out with my Mom. 😊

ON MY MIND:

My heart keeps hurting because of all the uncertainty and unrest in the world. I try to keep focusing on the blessings around me and leaving a lot of the worries with the Lord. I believe in His purpose for all things and that he has everything in hand

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE

Pretty tidy from our gathering yesterday. I still see all of my summer decorations and I think I'm really ready to see them leave. Time to pack them away for another year

CHORE I'M NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WEEK:

some closet organization

CURRENTLY READING

I have a few books I'm ready to dive into right now - I just need to choose one of them. Stay tuned! πŸ˜‰

ON THE TV TODAY:

Big Brother, HGTV shows, some movies taped, watching Parks & Rec on netflix. When Scott was here we were watching Northern Exposure. Do any of you remember that show from the 90's? It was one of my absolute favorites! So funny and takes place in AK.  I own the CD set of all the seasons and Scott had never watched it. So we were watching them together all past week and he was loving it too

ON THE MENU THIS WEEK:

MONDAY - leftovers from BBQ here yesterday for my Dad's bday

TUESDAY -  coconut curry chicken with kale over basmati rice (HF meal)

WEDNESDAY -  pancakes, bacon, fruit, breakfast potatoes

THURSDAY -  salsa verde enchiladas with poblano peppers, black beans & monterey jack cheese (HF meal)

FRIDAY - lemon tortellini palermo with roasted red peppers & parm (HF meal)

TO RELAX THIS WEEK I WILL:

Dive into some true book reading time and also some Fall magazines, do some meditative coloring I haven't done in a while, maybe do some scrapbooking, take Ruby for some walks and spot where the leaves are already starting to change! Geese have been flying over my house like crazy everyday. I have also smelled woodsmoke from the neighbor's stove some of the cool nights this week

FROM THE CAMERA:

Such a weird world when my Girl's first official day of school pics include her in a mask. Annie started last week and is going 4 days a week and one day at home and so far so good! πŸ™

Picnic and fishing gear on the dock ready to go!

The captain of this boat 😎  One of the days Scott was here the weather was perfect for a day out on the pontoon. We took Ruby and it was just the 3 of us out on the big lake all day. Such a fun day ☀️

Unfortunately we didn't catch anything - even though we saw fish literally jump right in front of the pontoon! Lol I love that my pontoon has pretty blue lights that light up everywhere - like under the wet bar and even the speakers have lights.

After a while Ruby and I stopped fishing and might have taken a little nap in the sun and breeze 🎣 πŸ˜‰

under an old railroad bridge was a great fishing spot and I thought the graffiti was cute

Then that night my Mom came over and Scott and I BBQ'd for everyone and we all played games.

There have been some beautiful evenings, perfect for a cozy fire on the deck - as long as you wear a sweatshirt.

And sometimes the moon puts on a show

My Dad and step Mom here yesterday for bday boy time. My Dad turned 75 and was just in South Dakota on a trip and did a zip line there! Go Dad!! πŸŽ‰

Devotional time before heading out with my Mom this AM. Notice the Fall candle πŸ˜‰ 🍁

PRAYER LIST:

I pray for an end to this virus. For peace, healing and unity in our world. And for all the teachers and students beginning this incredibly complicated and kind of scary new school year. May they all stay healthy and feel safe. For a friend in poor health. For Scott to remain safe and healthy in his job as a first responder. For answers to questions I have set before the Lord. πŸ™

Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Monday my Friends!

I can't believe how fast this month is flying by! My Girl starts school tomorrow, and if that's not a sign of impending Fall - I don't know what is. I love Autumn. It's my favorite season. But I just feel this need to cling to summer extra this year. I'm still treating the pool. I'm planning more pontoon rides. Lots of grilling I'd like to do yet. That being said - I also just bought a Fall candle and some soaps from Bath and Body. Lol I guess I'm feeling torn where to let my heart rest yet, so I'm dreaming on both seasons. ☀️ 🍁

This past week and weekend was all about celebrating my Aaron.  We had a little party for him here on his actual bday with my Mom and his friend and GF over. Then this past weekend we celebrated with Ad and my FIL.  We'll celebrate with my Dad & step Mom next weekend. I guess it's just a party kind of month. πŸ˜‰ πŸŽ‰

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING

slice of almond kringle, cantaloupe, iced coffee

HOW I AM FEELING THIS MORNING:

Feeling very happy that I finally have a dryer again!! Due to complications they weren't able to get to it last week. So this weekend I had to haul laundry to my Mom's again. They just finished it this morning and I don't know that I've ever been so happy to do laundry in my life! Lol

ON MY MIND:

Getting things all set for school for Annie. They're having an informational zoom meeting tonight - so I look forward to getting more of the scoop on how the start of this school year is going to play out.

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE

Clean and tidy from celebrating over this weekend. It's so nice to hear the laundry going. Sunshine is streaming in and I can tell it's getting pretty warm outside. It's still summer! 🌞

CHORE I'M NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WEEK:

The back hall is due for a good scrubbing - organizing

CURRENTLY READING

summer magazines and some Fall ones came too!

ON THE TV TODAY:

Big Brother, some old movies taped including Bringing Up Baby with Katharine Hepburn & Cary Grant. If you haven't ever seen it you should! So funny! HGTV shows, cooking shows

ON THE MENU THIS WEEK:

MONDAY - crispy cheddar chicken, loaded bacon mashed potatoes & asparagus (Hello Fresh meal I didn't make from the end of last week), eat up leftover fruit salad from the weekend

TUESDAY -  going to use leftover bbq pulled pork to make a homemade pizza, salad or veggies and dip

WEDNESDAY -  maybe grill burgers, chips, melon

THURSDAY -  sun dried tomato basil spaghetti with almonds and parm (HF meal)

FRIDAY - salsa verde enchiladas with poblano peppers, black beans and monterey jack cheese (HF meal)

The kiddos and I love pesto. And if I have leftover from making a pasta or gnocchi - I will sometimes make a grilled cheese sandwich with mozzarella and some parm with pesto spread on it too. I did this recently and Annie loved it!! πŸ˜‹

TO RELAX THIS WEEK I WILL:

do some yoga stretches and a little meditating after a workout, weed some of my flowers and keep the summer pretty going, sit on the rocking chairs on the lower deck and listen to the wind in the trees, hopefully some pontoon rides

FROM THE CAMERA:
I think of 20 as kind of a milestone into adulthood so went down memory lane a bit with Aaron's bday. He was only a 4 pound preemie when he was born almost 7 weeks early. He fit right in our hands

I feel so blessed to be his Mom and have had a front row seat through all of his growing years into the wonderful young man he is now. This last pic was on his actual bday with his adorable GF. Both sweethearts. ♥️

I have a bestie that is thinking about getting into the cookie making business and she made some cookies this past May for Annie's bday. And made these amazing ones for Aaron's. And they tasted even better than they looked!

For the party this weekend I made him a black forest poke cake since chocolate and cherry is one of his faves. It was a devil's food cake, pour hot fudge into the holes, top with cherry pie filling and then cool whip. Yummy!

Still enjoying all of the beauty of summer- like flowers and even a crazy mushroom in the yard, but with a pumpkin thrown in here and there for good measure :)
