Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Homemaker Monday

Hello Dear Friends ☀️

Happy Tuesday! I wasn't going to post, but I figured a little late was better than not at all. Especially since I had taken the past couple of weeks off. After years of not having motivation to Spring clean like I should due to the end of our marriage etc, I finally felt ready to tackle this house. So I spent the past several weeks going through closets and rooms purging things and scrubbing, vacuuming and reorganizing. I still have shampooing to do and the craft room to finish. But otherwise I'm feeling much better. Also, work crews have been here putting on my new deck, putting a railing on stairs down to the dock, cleaning out poison ivy and oak out of parts of the yard, and will be putting in Annie's new bay window. I actually have a plumber here snaking some drains today, as this house is a lot like country living in the city and has its share of issues. Lol

Also, you may remember that my friend Scott came for a visit recently. It went so well! We had such a great time. ♥️  He is planning to come and do some camping in the area soon with his daughter. And already planned a visit again for early July. I'm just taking it all one day at a time but it's a lot of fun and he's a wonderful fella. ๐Ÿ˜‰

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING

toast, fruit, coffee

HOW I AM FEELING THIS MORNING:

I'm feeling like it will be so nice when all the projects around the outside of the house are done. We'll be able to get the dock and pontoon in then too. And Annie is waiting on her pool getting put back up once the deck is finished. Lol It will feel like summer can really begin then.

I'm also feeling so grateful that my son doesn't have to go back to school yet! His college is different and goes month to month. So he will continue with classes, but thankfully they will be online yet and he can stay here longer. His school is in FL and I see how the covid stuff is ramping up there again. He may not even go back in early Fall and this momma heart is so happy!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

ON MY MIND:

Our world is on my mind everyday.  I continue to pray extra prayers for healing and peace everyday and keep up with the news to a degree, but limit it as well

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE

It's all clean and tidy. The kiddos stayed with their Dad past couple days with Father's day time etc. And it's amazing how clean it is when they're not around. ๐Ÿ˜‚  They'll be back today and I'd rather have it more cluttered and have them here, of course.

CHORE I'M NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WEEK:

I'm not sure what extra chore I may tackle this week?

FROM THE CAMERA:

Most of the closets are all cleaned and organized now

My son left me a little love note to wake up to the other day. Melted my heart ๐Ÿ’Œ

Deck work in progress

Still getting used to this world of masks - but finally got my hair done! Yay!! Now I can have more fun (or so they say about blondes ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Finally took down my bunnies and things - let the summer mojo begin!
 ☀️ ๐ŸŒธ

When Scott visited we exchanged gifts and I had some not only for him but for his daughter as well.  She's only 7 and it was fun to go down memory lane and think of things a little pumpkin like that might like.  I also gave her some bedding from when Annie had her fairy room long ago (amazing what ya find when you clean out closets - Lol)  I gave her this fairy flower nightlight too. They went on a recent trip to visit family in NE and he took this pic to show me she had to bring her nightlight with for the hotel. ๐Ÿ’ So sweet!

I had 3 different snapping turtle mommas come and lay eggs in my yard. We get some every year. I found one of the nests had shells littered all over the yard - here's a close up on a couple of them. I thought maybe they hatched. But I think it was probably dug up by something. I hope the rest of them make it! I have my own discovery channel on a daily basis and I LOVE it!!

The sunsets do not disappoint this time of year. Nothing like a pink bay. And wildflowers are blooming everywhere. I love this flowering shrub that the landscapers put in several years ago. It blooms so pretty.

PRAYER LIST:

Scott's son (he's in in his 20's) live in NE and recently sustained an injury from an accident and praying for his fast healing. Our world and the need for a vaccine, peace and healing. The Black Lives Matter movement and true change in our country. For less division and more unity among us.

Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Monday Friends

I hope and pray you're all doing well. I'm sorry I missed you last week, but I took off Memorial Day to do things with my kiddos. And that weekend Ad came over too and shared a family dinner and played games and spent a nice day here.

And probably like most of you, my heart is hurting so much over what's going on in the world.  I haven't been sleeping well and I've been putting in overtime in prayer. I don't like to get into politics and things here. I try to reserve this space as a place for me to find a peaceful hobby for my own enjoyment. To connect with friends. Share family life, recipes etc. But I guess I want to say...What happened to George Floyd was so tragic and so incredibly wrong. And now that law enforcement has become close to my life, my heart hurts a bit for the abuse they are enduring as well. I think that officer Chauvin deserved to lose his job and be arrested and charged with murder. It is scary to think of a person like him in a place of power and with weapons. And I think maybe diversity training should be required for everyone in those kinds of positions. But in all honesty, I think we all need to look in the mirror. We all need to learn, to want to better understand, and to change the way we view each other on some level. The quotes I post at the bottom today is what I feel whole heartedly - about choosing love, compassion and understanding. We still have so far to evolve as a people in my opinion. But blanket statements of hatred over law enforcement isn't the answer either. As there are probably far more of them that are willing to lay down their life for people of any color and race because they're doing their jobs for the right reason. Thank you for letting me share and get some of that off of my heart.

And on the note of law enforcement. The update on Scott is that he's back from AK. Yay! He is on leave for a nice break,  and currently lives close to where his daughter lives and has her for the next several weeks. He has one day he won't be having her and he's coming up to visit me that day. I think there is good potential for us to be hanging out quite a bit this summer, and maybe his daughter too. I'm just going to let things be on that topic for a while now. I'll give you another update down the road. But going to give space now for things to just evolve. Now that it's finally getting a chance to become more "real" so to speak. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ♥️

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

It was storming quite a bit this AM. That's even why I'm getting to this later, because it messed with our electricity and wi-fi a bit. But now it's lovely out and sunny and, as you can see, perfect weather for my son and his GF to get in a game of badminton in the back yard

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING

fruit, coffee

HOW I AM FEELING THIS MORNING:

I'm feeling heart broken over what is happening in our world. I keep praying for good leadership to guide the way. I prayer for peace, compassion and understanding all throughout the day.

ON MY MIND:

Besides worrying about our world.  I'm still trying to focus on Spring cleaning and getting things in order around here.  There were so many things that Ad and I were a good balance of partnering on for chores around here. Aaron and Annie have both been helpful, but there still feels like there's quite a bit on my shoulders alone. I just keep trying to take it all one step at a time and work on the things I can accomplish.  Although, it's nice he's having his work crew come soon and put up decking that needs to be done outside. And replace Annie's bay window in her room because it's in bad shape.

Also, Annie finishes up school this week! It's crazy to me.  She will officially be a freshman in H.S. next year. And my heart still also breaks for all of the seniors robbed of so much this year. My nephew graduates this year and they're not doing an open house for him due to covid and everything going on.  ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ˜”

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE

It's nice and sunny now. Things are tidy, but need to do more vacuuming I didn't finish this weekend. Throw in another load of laundry

CHORE I'M NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WEEK:

I need to clean out the kitchen cabinets - scrub and organize them. And I need to take down my Spring decorations and put up my summer ones.

ON THE TV TODAY:

I think Grantchester starts again pretty soon.  America's Got Talent - it's taped but haven't started watching yet. I've been bingeing on Gilmore Girls. I have some movies taped...and cooking shows

ON THE MENU THIS WEEK:

MONDAY - leftover tomato soup, cheesy puff pastry for dunking, fruit

TUESDAY -BLT's, chips, veggies, fruit

WEDNESDAY -  fettucine alfredo, garlic bread, salads

THURSDAY - pancakes, fruit topping, bacon, breakfast potatoes

FRIDAY - pick up pizza or something fun - celebrate Annie finishing school

TO RELAX THIS WEEK I WILL:

read, try not to watch giant doses of the news, give myself a pedi

FROM THE CAMERA:

Annie and I have been obsessed with smoothie bowls. We blend up frozen fruit with some yogurt and some milk until it's like a nice thick smoothie. Then we pour it in a bowl and top with fresh fruit and toppings like toaste coconut and granola. So very yummy!!

Things have continued to bloom and grow here. We've had some beautiful nights too - I even put out my solar tiki torches and they glow each night in the backyard. And just as I thought. Now that I've planted my flower pots the fairies have moved back in and put a cabin in a rosemary forest, are reading books among the flowers, and making wishes by the basil.

Did I mention that this cutie has a motorcycle? Yikes! Help me! Lol The 2nd helmet in the pic is because his daughter enjoys going for a ride too. And I love this pic from the police page when a girl scout troop raised money for their dept a few weeks ago. He's a big guy so they made him sit in front and hold all of the cookies. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And did I also mention I'm getting my hair done before he comes? Thank the Lord! Look at those roots - Aaackk!!!

PRAYER LIST:

I look to the Lord for help and refuge from this fallen world. ๐Ÿ™
