Happy Homemaker Monday

HAPPY HOMEMAKER MONDAY

Hi my Friends!
Happy new week to you. I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are feeling energized for the week ahead.

It was such a fun one here because we did our girlfriend Christmas! There have been a group of 5 of us gf's that have been close for many years - some of us since grade school! - and we have been getting together to celebrate Christmas since we were in high school! One of the 5 moved to California many years ago...but we often facetime her if it works during our get together. We have a theme for the gifts and we gather, nibble and gab and catch up on life. We usually do the gathering in January after regular Christmas things die down. The only year we missed was last year due to covid.

This year's theme was Celtic Christmas and I hosted. I made my friend Mari's yummy cheesy potato soup (because associating Ireland with potatoes of course! Lol). You can find her wonderful blog here. Along with the soup I made a big green salad (I'll share recipe under photos), and one of the gals brought homemade Irish soda bread and Kerry gold butter. Another gal made us yummy green drinks and we wore pj's and had our yummy lunch. And then went down to the media room to big sectional couch to lounge, gab, nibble extra munchies, and exchange gifts the rest of the day/evening. I kept up my Christmas decorations just for the sake of our time and now this week will be all about taking it down and putting life back to normal. 😊

*PS: it was my turn to pick a new theme for next year and I chose "stained glass" ♥️

**Also, thinking about my former MIL today. She was one of my very best friends and passed away from Alzheimers 3 years ago. She would have been 78. I'm so glad she never knew about the issues with Ad and our separation and divorce - it would have devastated her. I miss her so much and I'm so grateful for the light she was in my life for close to 30 years!!

FROM THE CAMERA:

Did I forget to mention that my sweet Ruby baby turned 10 last week!

The moon was out early and so bright and pretty the other night

Girlfriend Christmas time:

This "winter salad" is no fail and always so yummy! Here's the recipe:

Yes we are in our pj's and because the girls tease me about being a cougar (as Matt is 6 yrs younger) - I had to oblige them with the cougar jammies. 😆

Detoxing yesterday's goodies with lots of water today! Tangerine water to be exact. 😋

PRAYER LIST:

Prayers for gratitude and thankfulness for so many blessings. I pray for an end to the virus. For peace and unity everywhere. For health care workers, first responders and all those who work so hard to take care of others. I pray for anyone isolated, feeling alone, in pain or fear - that God comfort them and bring them healing and peace. For my ex's family as they think of my MIL today. For special intentions for a close family member.

PRAYER, INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE OR DEVOTIONAL:

I hope you have a wonderful week ahead my Friends. I'm linking with Sandra of Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.

  2. Looks like the girlfriend Christmas was a huge success. Love your pajamas! And what a fun theme for next year, I immediately thought of a recipe for stained glass cookies that's in an old cookbook. That winter fruit salad looks so good. Glad you shared the recipe. Hope you have a wonderful week!
