Soup Season

Hi Friends!

I hope you've been having a wonderfully cozy week. ;) It's been in the 30's temperature wise here most of this week and I kind of love being back to comfort food season. Dreaming on the yummy things I want to cook and bake. There is just something about coming in to a warm and delicious smelling kitchen when it's cold out, isn't there?

I especially love coming home from running errands or being out in the cold and there is  something already cooking away in the slow cooker. It's just so comforting to know that dinner has been cooking most of the day and will be hot and ready when we want to sit down and eat. I know I told you about the bone broth I like to make on Monday's post. It created this yummy chicken noodle soup we had this week:

And since I had soups and slow cooker on my mind I thought I'd share a few more delish looking soups that I'd pinned on pinterest recently. You can find my soups board here. And my slow cooker board here.

This Slow Cooker Potato Soup recipe is thick and creamy (without using heavy cream), it's wonderfully flavorful, and it's made extra easy in the crock pot!

Doesn't this potato soup look good? This is nice and easy, as potato soup can be more of a process to make sometimes... but the slow cooker makes it really easy. This recipe calls for making up a little roux at the end to stir into the soup and thicken it up along with some evaporated milk. My Hubby likes soups more like this - thick, creamy and more like a meal. Brothy soups to him are more of just an appetizer. Lol You can find the recipe for this soup here.

The BEST Broccoli Cheese Soup recipe, made EASY in the crock pot! Your slow cooker does all the work. Made with lots of fresh broccoli and cheddar, and always a crowd favorite! | wellplated.com @wellplated

And how about another creamy one - this one for a slow cooker broccoli cheese soup. Yum!! You can find this recipe here.

Easy Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings. Juicy chicken breasts cook to tender perfection in the slow cooker in a rich creamy sauce. Shortcut dumplings are added in for a delicious comforting meal with very little effort. This is one family recipe everyone will agree on.

And finally, who doesn't love the comfort of a bowl of chicken and dumplings? You can find this recipe here.

Do you have a favorite go-to comfort food soup recipe? Please share. ;)  Have a wonderful weekend ahead and wishing you warm happy tummies! xo

  3. These look so yummy and coming home to the kitchen full of the scent of soup cooking when it is cold outside is my idea of bliss. Definitely have to check out your Pinterest boards! I am planning on making beef stew with dumplings this weekend, but potato soup sounds yummy, too! Decisions, decisions! Thanks for the recipes - hope you have a cozy weekend. Hugs xo Karen

  4. I've been making soup a lot lately. It's so much more efficient to use the crockpot in the rv rather than the propane stove.

I had to laugh about your hubby's soup preference. It reminded me of a Seinfeld episode and their discussion of whether a certain kind of soup was a 'meal'. Consommé not so much lol.

Miss you sweet cheeks, but I haven't been around much either. To every thing there is a season...
