Happy Homemaker Monday

Hello dear wonderful Blogging Beauties!

Thank you so much for all the prayers, love and support on my last post. My face surgery went well. They were able to get all the cancer cells with only one shave in the Mohs surgery. I felt so badly for other people that were up there all day long, due to having to go back for multiple cuttings. I was there only about 2 hours. It was a heftier surgery than I thought it was going to be though. It required internal stitches and 8 stitches on the outside of my face. I have a line from right below the corner of my eye all the way to the bottom of my nose. I took a pic to show my kiddos and they said I look like one tough Chick. Lol I'll spare you the more gruesome pic, but here is one from right after the procedure to show you how it requires a large dressing on my face. It got pretty swollen and black and blue - but even that is getting better now. I will get the stitches out later this week and then it will take a several weeks to more fully heal up. Fun, fun.

So needless to say it was a pretty quiet weekend overall. Matt has been the biggest Sweetie and taking very good care of me. It got really cold here over the weekend and we even had our first snowflakes flying in the air! It didn't accumulate to anything...but Mother Nature was letting us know it's just a matter of time. ❄️

TIPS OR SOMETHING TO SHARE:

Today is the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. You may remember the song by Gordon Lightfoot? It has real meaning here as that ship loaded up on iron ore in the city where I live that day, and left from the harbor just a few miles from our bay. I was only 4 at the time, so of course I don't remember it. Today they will have a commemoration ceremony over Lake Superior at this lighthouse, where Matt & I hiked this Fall:

They will be ringing a memorial bell 29 times for each man lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald. If you haven't heard the song or story I'll include the lyrics and a video of the song here:

THE WRECK OF THE EDMUND FITZGERALD

FROM THE CAMERA:

Since I've needed to be restful I've been coloring, watercolor painting and other crafting. :)

It just looks like November around here. And it got cold enough to have snowflakes swirl and little bit show up on the deck. We got out the birdfeeder and the deck is completely empty and everything is put away for winter. The squirrels come to clean up the scraps the birds drop from the feeder, and it drives Ruby crazy. Lol

I put away the more Halloween kinds of Fall decorations and Thanksgiving ones are more featured now. I was watching a show on youtube and the gal had cats and Bubba sat and watched with me! Lol

PRAYER LIST:

For an end to the conflicts all over the world and anyone living in war & fear. For peace and unity in this country, especially from hate and shootings or violence.  For anyone sick, suffering, in pain, fear, loneliness etc ... that God bring them comfort and peace.

For Christ's Light and Love to cast out the darkness everywhere and help the world find its way to loving our neighbors as ourselves. 🙏🏻

PRAYER, INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE OR DEVOTIONAL:

Blessings on your week ahead Friends. 💗

I'm sharing this with Sandra of Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.

  1. I'm so glad your surgery went well, and especially glad it was caught early.
We had more snow than you, but not a lot. Just enough to cover the ground and trees two days in a row.
I do remember the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I was 14 years old. Such a tragedy!
    Have a great week!

I'm envious of your snow flakes. ❄️

  3. Carrie, I'm glad you're ok and the surgery went well. And I can't believe you've had snow already! Is that early for y'all or normal? The words to that song are so haunting. I've heard that song over the years, but never read the actual lyrics. What a sad tragedy. Thanks for sharing. Have a good, restful week with lots of creativity keeping you busy :)

  5. Hello Dear Friend! I'm sorry for being so behind on my blog reading! Just catching up on your last few posts now. I'm so happy your surgery is done and you're feeling well! Thank the Lord! I'll say an extra prayer for a speedy healing for you! Can't believe you've already had snow. It's freezing here! I'm sure it's coming my way for sure. I love your cozy Thanksgiving decorations and your beautiful artwork! I've been cross stitching at night and it's been very relaxling! lol
I'll talk to you soon! xx

  6. Hello Carrie, I'm so glad to hear your surgery went well. I had the same surgery on my upper left cheek ten years ago. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't so great. My doctor at the time had a horrible bedside manner and I was in shock when it was over as I wasn't told what to expect. I had to wear a bandage for almost two months. I sounds like your experience was much better - thank goodness. Praying that you have a quick recovery! No snow here, but it has been cold and windy. Your Thanksgiving decorations are so pretty and festive! Take care, dear friend.❤️

  7. So sorry Carrie that through my absence, I didn't know anything about your surgery. Glad that everything went well and I also pray that there are no hidden cells. You are so pretty and even with your bandage on, your beauty shines through...take care.

  8. So happy they were able to get it in one pass! Glad Matt is good with the TLC and taking such good care of you. I LOVE that picture of Ruby and the squirrel - I keep seeing the most fun "window" pictures with indoor and outdoor animals that are just so sweet. I was just reading about Gordon Lightfoot and the writing of that song after the wreck. And about the changes he's made since in public appearances. Such a tragic story. Take care of yourself this week and heal well. XOXO

  9. So good to hear all went well and they didn't have to dig to far, our friend had a pretty deep hole in his face but now you can't tell at all. Prayers for good continuing healing! I agree that we get use to our comforts until we are without them and they make it all very appreciative for all we do have, glad you can be in your bed once again! Yes growing up in Michigan we knew all about the shipwreck, up in Mackinaw City they even have a museum all about it, the song played all the time when I was a kid. Love your little water color snowman :) Have a great weekend!
