Happy weekend to you! TGIF, right? I hope you have fun plans for the weekend ahead. I can't believe another week has breezed by and it's the weekend again already. Time flies when you're having fun and that's what I've been doing. Having fun catching up on scrapbooks and also paper crafting away making some Valentine's Day cards. So today I thought I'd share with you several things including the valentines I made recently (including one I kind of shared yesterday but will show again), a yummy recipe I made last weekend, and something that is pretty corny...but I think will give you a smile.
ONE
Here's the 1st valentine I'd like to share today - and I have a few details about how I went about creating it.
I had some kraft paper cardstock and envelopes that I used for the base of things. Then I knew I wanted to use something vintage looking with a romantic feel - so I pulled a couple of different papers from this little book and trimmed them to fit my card.
I arranged them how I liked them on the front and adhered them.
I wanted to embellish them further so I found another pretty paper and cut out a heart. I added a pretty dimensional butterfly sticker to its top. I then took a crochet ring and added this diamond brad to it. I adhered both embellishments to the front of the card.
I then set about filling the card. So I used some pretty floral paper and added it inside the card. I typed up a valentine message and cut it out with my victorian-look scissors and adhered it on top.
I cut out another heart from other vintage paper and added a dimensional flower sticker to it and adhered that to the back of the envelope. I think it turned out rather pretty and soft and romantic. ;)

And this is the card I shared yesterday. I used a card that already had a floral background and some lace tape to make a pattern. I then glued on a pretty crepe flower and voila! A little embellishment of lace tape and flowers on the envelope and it's a pretty set.

And for this card I used another floral blank card and added a heart that I cut out with decorative scissors. I then glued on this sweet yellow crochet heart. I love adding dimension to the front. And to be cheeky I added "Got Love?" that I typed and printed up. I then wrote a response on the inside to let a sweet loved one know that lots of love is sent in that card. ;)
I embellished the envelope with a couple of heart stickers.
So pretty to also display next to romantic valentine decor - including a really yummy smelling yankee candle that lets one dream of lilacs and Spring....which still seems far away. ::sigh::
FOUR
Now on to the recipe portion. I made this yummy Boston cream poke cake last weekend and it was so good! I had a few different recipes about how to make this - as some called for extra pudding and some called for different kinds of frosting. I found that the way this cake turns out so well is by making a basic yellow cake mix following its directions. Bake in 9x13 pan according to box directions. Once pulled from oven poke holes all over cake with end of a wooden spoon (or tool about that size). Then take one 3.5 oz instant vanilla pudding mix and mix in 2 cups of milk until well mixed and thickening a little. Pour over whole cake getting in all of the holes. Put cake in fridge for a while to cool and set up. Then take a can of chocolate frosting and microwave it for about 20 seconds until it gets thin enough to pour, but not too thin. Spread all over top of cake and then keep in fridge until ready to serve. Something about that canned frosting makes it a perfect kind of boston cream glaze. Perfect for a Valentine Sweetheart. Yummy!!

Hello dear Friends! Happy Thursday - which means it's almost the weekend. Yay! ;) I hope you're having a great week so far.
I thought today I would share a cozy moment with you and one of the Valentine's cards I made recently. I will be sharing more tomorrow as well, but today I thought I'd pop in so you could see what I've been enjoying...which is paper crafting and baking. 2 of my favorites! So a card and a treat coming up...
First about the card. I took a pre-existing blank floral card and I added some strips of green lace tape on it. And to the center of that I glued this crepe cream flower. Old fashioned and romantic. ;)
I then took the plain white envelope that goes with it and added a little bit of lace tape to it and some flower stickers with matching colors to the card...and they also had cute little hearts in their centers. Perfect Valentine's kinds of goodies.
I liked that the outside had a rustic romantic look - so to the inside I added this cardstock back drop of rustic wood. I then typed up a "be mine" message in the same dark green that matched the floral tape on the front. Right to the point and still room to write your own sweet message too. ;)
And while dreaming over what loving message to write inside it may be time to muse over a cup of hot tea and a yummy butterscotch & chocolate chip bar. It's lovely having tea next to my pretty Roseville pottery teapot.
Sweet and romantic...
To make the bars I just use the nestle chocolate chip cookie bar pan recipe and I only use 1/2 the chocolate chips it calls for and add another 1/2 in butterscotch chips. Such a yummy combination together! You can find this recipe online if you click here.

It's kind of a gray one here today and it rained this AM. The sun is trying to peek through in moments here and there. There is a cool breeze and Fall definitely feels like it's in the air. It's had me thinking about decorating my house for the season and I've been having fun making some seasonal cards as well. Always nice to have around for a Fall birthday or to send to a dear Friend...like you! ;)
I have so many different kinds of crafty things about, so I thought I'd play around and decorate each card differently with things I had on hand. I thought you might like a peek:
The first card I played around with I knew I wanted to make dimensional in some way. So here's what I did:
I had some old jack-o-lantern scrapbook paper - so I ripped a couple jack-o-lanterns out of it (for added texture instead of cutting) and I first adhered some lace and I knew I wanted to add the little Fall leaves branch. But then I found some gears I had and I thought they'd be a neat contrast with the lace (kind of a steam punk thing almost) and glued them on as well. I then adhered the ripped pumpkins on the top. I was going to leave all of the cards blank inside - but for this one I decided to stamp a "boo" on the inside. A more Halloweenish card to send.
I then added a jack-o-lantern cupcake sticker to the envelope. Card #1 down.
For the next card I knew I wanted to use some Fall stamps I had and my watercolor pencils. So here's what I did for that one:
I used a pumpkin and leaf that I stamped in black. Then I colored them in with various colored pencils and blended it all with my paintbrush and a little water. I then added a little bit of ribbon sticker and washi tape. I also stamped "thinking of you" with my copper stamp - but it didn't come out as cleanly as I would have liked. Oh well, that's how a friend knows that I made it homemade...unperfect and full of love (like me). ;)
I then added a little of the same washi tape on the envelope. Voila! Card #2 done.
For the final card I thought I would primarily use stickers. Here's how that one turned out:
For this one I used another strip of washi tape in a brown pattern. I then added the sweet tree stickers and acorn sticker. I had some rounded button kind of stickers and I added those in a strip down the side with the little flower to top it off. Then I added some letter stickers to say "happy fall" to someone special. ;)
The final touch for this card was using more of the same kind of flower sticker in brown - with some leaves on the envelope. And now I have more fun cards on hand to share with friends or family. Just simple, but fun to be creative and make each one so different.
