Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Monday Friends ~

Halloween week!! Getting some final things ready. I've been a slacker and Annie and I haven't even carved a pumpkin yet - (going to fix that tonight). Plus need to finish decorating out in front of the house too. We have friends and family coming over tomorrow for some Halloween fun and trick-or-treating... so need to get myself moving.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We had a really nice one over here.  There was some hockey practices. Annie made it on a new hockey team for this winter and her Dad is going to be the coach - so she's happy.  Annie had some sleepovers with friends over here. My son attended MORP dance (it's prom spelled backwards as girls ask the guys). His girlfriend was supposed to be out-of-town so they weren't going to go. But last minute her plans were cancelled so they decided to go and just didn't do the whole formal tux thing and dressed up, but more casually. It sounded like they had lots of fun with their group of friends. And Hubby and I had a fun date night at home on Saturday. We made a snacky kind of dinner and hung out down in the media room and munched and watched a movie. Like going out on a date night but we got to just be in our pj's and snuggle closer. Works for me ;)  More snuggle time and football watching on Sunday.  We also took my MIL and FIL out for their 54th wedding anniversary! Pretty awesome to celebrate so many years. Her Alzheimer's breaks my heart, but they both seemed healthy and happy yesterday and we had a lovely afternoon out with them.  My FIL is hanging in there.  But it's so hard to have to see my Hubby struggle with the sadness of it too.  Love that family - my family too -  so much and pray for them daily and just keep being here for them  the best I'm able.

I hate when weekends end but now it's on to the week ahead...

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

Gray, cloudy, windy and cold! It's only in the 30's today and supposed to only be in the 30's for Halloween tomorrow (poor trick-or-treators). Bbrrr. Looks like only 30's and 40's all week and we may get more snow on Wednesday. I guess winter is truly around the corner.

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING:

A slice of cranberry wild rice bread, toasted with butter and a little bit of orange marmalade. Yum. And coffee with vanilla creamer.

I used some of that bread when I made vanilla spiced french toast and boy was that good!!

RIGHT NOW I AM:

Watching the morning news, Ruby snuggled at my feet, and working on my planner while I work in this.

AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:

I still see some of deck furniture out. The snow we had all melted, but more is coming. Since we didn't get it put away this weekend we'll probably take care of that tonight and I'll get the rest of my Halloween decorations to put out front too.

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE:

Still a few things to get done and cleaned up before we have folks over tomorrow night. I need to grab more groceries too - have some fun spooky goodies planned. Looking forward to having our fireplace going tomorrow night, so  nice and cozy. Apple cider on the stove and candles glowing inside and out along with all the candy and fun with kiddos.  Bring on Halloween

ON TODAY'S (& this week's) TO DO LIST:

Kiddos' hockey.  Sign up for wallyball court as us gals are going to get back to that now too. Always a fun way to get exercise!! My other workout time. Daily devotional time. Religious ed. Projects I need to finish

Our 2018 day calendar is out ➡ https://goo.gl/6VgXpp

My Hubby and I were best buds and dated 7 years before marriage...so I guess that's good, right? Lol We were 16 when we started dating though ;)

FROM THE CAMERA:

Some photos of the snow we got last week. And Annie and her friend even got out some of our sleds (we didn't get THAT much snow) and made a "snow cat" instead of a snowman

Boo!!!
Since it's almost Halloween I thought I'd have a little fun.

An Apple A Day...

Hey Friends!

I thought I'd finally share that recipe for the yummy apple delights I was telling you about. Also, a few other apple tidbits too. You know what they say about an apple a day, right? ;)  They happen to be one of my favorite fruits - and I love anything apple dessert or just a snack too. Lately I've been addicted to apple slices I dip in cookie butter for a quick satisfying snack. Holy yum!  Do you have a favorite apple recipe??

But here is the recipe for Pioneer Woman's Peanut Butter Apple Delights. I made them for my family recently and they all LOVED them.

PEANUT BUTTER APPLE DELIGHTS from REE (PW)

Ingredients

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Halve the muffins and spread a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter on each half. Layer the apple slices on the peanut butter. Mix the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg together in a small bowl and sprinkle about 2 teaspoons on top of each muffin half.
Put the muffin halves on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Set the oven to low broil and cook until bubbly and caramelized, about 3 minutes.

Another yummy apple dish is one I've had under my recipe tabs for a while. I made it again as a side dish to one of our meals,  recently, and my crew gobbled it up so fast there were barely any leftovers. It's for Cararmel Apple Salad and you can find the recipe here.  Crunchy, salty, sweet perfection made from apples, butterscotch pudding, cool whip, pineapple tidbits, mini marshmallows, and honey roasted peanuts.

And the final thing I wanted to share is my new mini pie pan. It's been fun and just perfect for making things for our family of four. Recently I made us each our own individual apple pies for dessert. My Kiddos especially thought it was so cool to get their own pie. (I only ate a 1/2 of a pie for the record) ;)

We had them warm with a scoop of real vanilla bean ice cream. A little bit of heaven and perfect for a chilly Fall night. I'm thinking I'm going to make us individual chicken pot pies next.

I hope you're staying nice and cozy Friends and enjoying all things apple  too..
.keep that doctor away.     xoxo

Happy Homemaker Monday

Hello my Dear Friends & Happy Monday!

I'm sorry that yet again I've been busy and more absent last week. I'll be playing catch up this week and make visits to you!! The end of last week a girlfriend of mine had tickets to an author/motivational speaker that she loves and I went with her for a couple of days out-of-town. It was so fun! Neat event, great speakers, yummy food, shopping, great girlie time and conversation. I'm so blessed with the best friends in the world. ;)  However, now I should actually be around and no more running out-of-town for a while and my weeks should finally get back to normal. Lol

We had a nice weekend here too once I got back. Some snuggling in on a rainy day. Got things done around the house. Went to dinner with my Dad & step Mom and gave them tour of the new office building. More football snuggle time with Hubby. I hope you had a great weekend too and have a very blessed week ahead...

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

Sunny and lovely. Supposed to be in low 60's today. But then rest of the week going to cool down into the 40's and 50's. Yikes!! Snuggle in time for sure. And later in the week supposed to get some rain too.

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING:

My Friend and I had a trip to Trader Joe's on our adventures and I picked up lots of goodies, including some pumpkin spice O's cereal - so yummy! (don't judge) And I had some of that this AM with my creme brulee coffee

Listening to some Celtic music and writing in my planner as I also work on this

AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:

I see the sun shining on the bay - however a lot more bare trees back there now. We had some windy weather this past weekend and blew lots of leaves away. Boo :(

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE:

Tidy and clean. Did some family cleaning time (Hubby and kiddos dove in too). Just some laundry going and other daily chores today. I need to change our sheets too
