Happy Homemaker Monday

Hello Friends! Happy Monday and...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! πŸŽƒπŸ•ΈπŸ•·πŸ§‘
(for those that celebrate)

If you do celebrate are you doing anything fun? I don't get into the real spooky side of Halloween, but I love the tradition of the costumes, handing out candy, having friends over etc - from when my kiddos were little. I always have a pot of hot apple cider on and goodies on hand. This year Matt will be here (of course ♥️ ) and the Conley's are coming over and bringing us all Chinese food for dinner! πŸ˜‹ I will have other goodies on hand and I usually put plastic bugs and spiders on them to make it more fun. My former SIL is going to stop by with her kiddos too. So a little Halloween party of sorts and I'm so excited! It's so nice to have fun in this way... they way I used to before my ex went off the rails. So I'll be lighting up the jack-o-lanterns Matt and I carved, and my other decorations, and have the candles glowing & a big bowl of candy ready to go! I wish you all lived closer and could stop in for some hot cider and a treat! (no tricks here) πŸ€— 🧑

Did you have a nice weekend? Has the weather been unseasonably nice where you live too? It's been so lovely weather-wise here.  Over the weekend we got in some errands and a brunch out. Saturday Annie had her homecoming dance and I was designated as the parent to take photos (they said cuz I'm creative - plus she knows I love that stuff!) The kids humored me very well and tolerated all of my poses. πŸ˜‚ (Warning and beware of lots of photos below) Lol Then Matt & I went out Saturday night with the C's for dinner and some time at the casino. We didn't really win anything (mainly played black jack and some slots) - but it was so much fun!!

Spiced Custard Pear Bars

Hello Friends!

I thought today I would share a recipe I shared a long time ago. I mentioned it in a recent post and I was asked by a couple of you about them. I found them in a Taste of Home magazine ages ago. I have made them many times throughout the years and they always turn out great! I even doctored them to make them keto version for Matt and his folks recently and they were just as good. Even though they're chilled because there's a custard layer in the middle....all the cinnamon (the spiced part) on the top of the pears makes it feel Fall or holiday to me.

I forgot to get a good shot of them fully done - but here's the pic I did get before they went in the oven:

And here is the recipe from the magazine. You can also find them under my recipe tab above. I highly recommend them - they are SO good. I just use canned pears as they seem to always work the best. Also, to make them keto I just used monkfruit sweetener instead of sugar and ground fine keto almond flour (the same recipe ratio).
