Happy Homemaker Monday

HAPPY HOMEMAKER MONDAY

Hello my Friends! Happy Monday to you 😊

I'm watching it blizzard all around me and inside I'm weeping! Ugh! I've been dreaming on Spring, flowers, and plans that all feel a million miles away. But I've lived in the northwoods my whole life and I shouldn't be surprised. However, hearing they predict potentially 12-15 inches of snow hits right in heart!

First of all, I need to thank you all for the wonderful comments you shared last week in regards to Matt. Your love and support means so much to me! And I feel so lucky to have found such an amazing man to bless my life. But I'm also not surprised. I prayed for him for a long time and God is so good and had His hands in it all....just waiting on the right timing.  Sure knows what He's doing, doesn't He? ♥️

Did you have a lovely weekend? It was another wonderful one here. Mr. Matt came to visit and we had wonderful meals (I did some cooking for him this time 😋), hung out with Annie, played cards, took Ruby for a walk, snuggled in front of the fire on my new furniture (see pics below), and he helped me put together one piece I had ordered to match my new pieces. Or I should really say he put it together. Lol I was a good instruction reader. 😉 Also Annie and I had fun hanging out when she drove all over our area to practice her driving. Yep, she has her drivers permit (hold me?!)

Now on to this swirling white day and week ahead...

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING:

1/2 a whole wheat english muffin with a small amount of pb and honey. Coffee. I allow myself one cheat day a week I don't count things but overall still counting points every day and I'm already down 6 pounds now! 💪

ON MY TO DO LIST:

staying put next few days, Annie is on break and we have some plans for later in the week, also appointment for passport photos, trip planning for several trips this year, picking out appliances and a bit more furniture for other parts of the house, hospice work (& potentially new job related), other errands later in the week, projects

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE

I feel like I'm in a snow globe. No matter which window I look out I see swirling white. I'm listening to classical music and petting Ruby because she came over needing some love.

What it looks like outside right now:

😂 😆

TO RELAX THIS WEEK I WILL:

read in front of the fire, sip tea and watch the snow, find a fun new youtube workout to do, work on scrapbook and embroidery projects, maybe zoom with gf's?

TIPS OR SOMETHING TO SHARE:

FROM THE CAMERA:

This mythology candle smells amazing!

I love the new vibe of this room. It's classic, yet gives me Mad Men vibes. And the furniture is all really comfortable. New couch, chairs, end tables, and lamps....and I shopped my own home for accessories so some things will probably change over time. The couch is slate and looks kind of deep gray/blue in person. The chairs are a taupe color. The 2 end table lamps have a smoky glass. And the tall one in the reading chair corner has a nightlight in the center of it if you don't want the full lamp on. I thought that was kind of cool.  I found the lamps shopping around online too. Overall I'm thrilled with how it turned out. I have such fun decorating 😃

The furniture store didn't have a front foyer table that matched the other tables. So I went on the hunt for one online and found one at Wayfair. I love how well it matches - but it needed assembly. So this is the table that Matt built. 😉  Now I need to find a new mirror - this one went with the old foyer table.

pretty decent match

A friend of mine was part of a fundraiser for school kids (including hers) traveling to Japan to our sister city there in the future. They had a pancake breakfast, bake sale and auction. I made 8 mini loaves of bread and 2 big batches of chocolate chip cookies to donate to the cause. 😋 Good thing getting them out of my house! Lol

On one of our driving outings Annie drove us here because she was hungry. Lol I stayed in the car and let her go get her sandwich to take home. No room in my points for bagels that day.

At least when Matt was here it was beautiful weather so we could get out walking!

my fortune cookie recently and too good not to share 💕

Can't stop dreaming.... ☀️ 🌸

PRAYER LIST:

Prayers for gratitude and thankfulness for so many blessings. I pray for an end to the virus. For peace and unity everywhere. For health care workers, first responders and all those who work so hard to take care of others. For special intentions.

PRAYER, INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE OR DEVOTIONAL:

Have a wonderfully cozy week ahead Friends. I'm linking with Sandra of Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.

  1. Dreaming here too! It hit 44 today, but by the time I was coming home, the wind was awful and the cold weather coming back. I'm so ready for Spring!
Glad you had another fun weekend with Matt. He does good work - the table looks good! I like the other furniture too. The room looks classy and still comfortable.

    1. I hear you Mari - Spring can please come early this year! And thanks for the lovely compliments. It has helped my mental health a lot to change a lot of the rooms in the house and make them my own now. ;)

  2. Carrie, you have done so well with counting your points - I am going to start my counting again tomorrow and see how I go too! The weather information is interesting: I have never been too sure where the Northwoods are - but it looks like you might be near the southside of Lake Superior. Such a pretty area - is the lake beside your house Lake Superior? I have flown over the Great Lakes. Your baked cookies look so good, you really are a talent. The new furniture is very classy as well as comfortable, and looks great with my favourite piece, the white grand piano :) xxx

    1. Thanks Trish! We can do WW together. ;) It has always worked for me to lose weight because I still get to have something if I really want it. I don't do well if I'm told I can't have something. Lol I do live on the south side of Lake Superior...well actually I'm in a bay that's part of a river off of lake Superior. But if I literally drive my pontoon boat straight ahead from home for 1 minute and then turn right I enter right into lake superior.
Thank you for the kind compliments. I'm loving the new furniture so much. It's really giving the room a whole new feel I like a lot. Wish I could bake you some cookies too! xo

  3. Beautiful new furniture! Your space looks great, you really have a talent for design. Um, you best keep that 12-16 inches of snow and blizzard up there. Please. I'm sure it's so beautiful though. You are inspiring me, might need to check back into the WW stuff. Hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. Thanks Jean! That's so kind of you to say. I actually entertained the idea to do a design school program so I could be a stager for folks selling their homes. But then I felt the calling too strong to hospice and that's where my focus needs to be. Annie talks about loving design now so who knows. 😉 I think we have all the snow in the world up here right now. Lol Are you sure you don't want me to share?? ;) xoxo

  4. Oh sweetie I feel for you and your spring desire. But, you know what's worse? Having that desire and no snow on the ground, but yet it's too cold to do anything outside. I can envision out the window what I WANT to do as the sun shines, but we're back to bone chilling cold this week with wind to boot!

I can't believe Annie is old enough for a driver's permit! Where does the time go?

Tomato soup is awesome any winter night, but add those Red Lobster cheddar biscuits and I'm in!!! Those are some of my favorites!

I hope your snow is slowing and you have a FANTASTIC rest of the week.

So glad you are having so many new projects in you life.

  6. Love the snow pics - so pretty, but I know you are wishing for spring. Hopefully soon! Your furniture is so nice, Carrie, and the style is so beautiful for your home. Glad that Matt is making himself useful around there (haha!) - good job, Matt! I can't believe Annie is already driving. I know it is nerve-wracking, being a Mom of a new driver, but just think of all the errands she can run for you :) Congrats on losing the 6 lbs. I need to get on track and lose a few. I know it is not easy, so keep up the good work. Cheesy lobster rolls sound intriguing. I've never heard of them. Or fried pickles. I need to get out more...Hope you have some warmer weather soon! xx K
