Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Monday Friends! 💗

I hope you're having a most excellent start to a very wonderful week ahead. :)

Don't the weekends fly by? This one felt so fast. Matt's folks came to the northwoods from the lake to visit for the weekend. They stayed in the cutest air b&b - and the reason for their visit was that Matt had gotten tickets to Jim Gaffigan over the winter. His folks just love him! So we went to the comedy show. We also had great food all weekend. Went out to the new Superman movie (so good by the way!) We hung out at our house and lounged on the deck. While here we also had fun nibbles and played games... and even challenged Annie & her friends to trivia. It was old vs young and Matt was on the "young" team. Lol So the old team was Matt's folks and myself and we won!! Yay for the old farts! 😂
Matt's folks were sharing some funny stories from their young days and all of the kiddos were eating it up. Matt's Mom had been a high school teacher and she just loves the energy of kids that age.

Also, after their visit Matt had gotten a new motorized trimmer and trimmed up a bunch of shrubs around the house that needed it. Love that Hubby of mine ❤️

It was so fun and we were so busy I did church online this weekend. All in all a fun weekend and more great summer moments in the books.

Now on to the week ahead...

TIPS OR SOMETHING TO SHARE:

FROM THE CAMERA:

My Honey getting ready to tackle the shrubs. He trimmed them up so nicely - especially in this back little garden area that holds Felix the Frog... a statue we've had back there since Annie was a little girl.

Matt's folks' adorable air b&b from the weekend.

Waiting for the show to begin. Jim Gaffigan was really funny!

Matt's Dad loved how they made bloody Mary's in our neck of the woods.

A first cuke out of the garden. We have regular pickling ones and also these white ones. I had never tasted a white cucumber - but they're sweeter than a regular one. It was SO good! Can't wait until the others get bigger.

Some other fun eats from this weekend. I made some homemade guacamole. And also this layered cherry oreo ice box cake. It was really easy and SO good! Annie's pals especially gobbled it up.  I'll share the recipe this week.

When Matt was driving his folks back to their air b&b - Annie and I took on the boys in ladderball and kicked their butts! 😉

Cozy summer scenes from around home: lavender candles, mama doe visiting, a pitcher of hydrangeas, baby robin chicks getting bigger, our bear visitors, and more lilies blooming. Yay summer goodness!

PRAYER LIST:

For an end to the conflicts all over the world and anyone living in war & fear. For peace and unity in this country, especially from hate and shootings or violence.  For anyone sick, suffering, in pain, fear, loneliness etc ... that God bring them comfort and peace.  🙏🏻

For Christ's Light and Love to cast out the darkness everywhere and help the world find its way. 🙏🏻

PRAYER, INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE OR DEVOTIONAL:

this made me laugh because it's too true 😂

Sending you all the lovies of my heart for a great week dear Friends!

I'm sharing this with Sandra of Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.

    1. Thanks Mandy! Wasn't that bloody Mary crazy? They serve some around here and put a little cheeseburger, cheese curds and other items like Matt's dad's was. It's a meal and a drink! Lol

    1. Thanks Shug! His folks love having an air b&b - as Annie kind of has the guest wing here. Lol But I think they really love having their own space to spread out. It's nice for them because they make sure there's a good recliner for Matt's Mom and her back and they like having their own kitchenette for the mornings. :)

  7. Sounds like another fun weekend for sure, I think Jim is prety funny too, nice you could see him in person. So nice all the generations can get together and have a great time, all our parents have passed, so it is so sad that generation is gone in our family, so precious to have that time.
Hope you have a good week to come too!

    1. Thanks Connie! I know what you mean and often think about that. Matt and I are so lucky to still have our folks but they're all approaching 80 years and have various health issues. 🙈 It will be so weird to me when Matt and I are the last generation for my kids...and I know it's not that far away. It's the cycle of things but still sad to think about - I agree. 💗

I can't believe it took me to the weekend to get here, but at least I'm here!!!! I've missed visiting. I LOVE your sunrise funny - so so true at this age!

I LOVE all your photos, but especially the bears and baby birds! And that dessert looks so decadent!!!!! I'm also jealous of your white cucumber - can't get them here, but I LOVE them.

Have a GREAT new weekend and I'll see you Monday 😘
