Some Things About Me

My friend Billie Jo at the blog Afternoon Coffee and Evening Tea you can find here: http://afternooncoffeeandeveningtea.blogspot.com/ shared a post the other day of some fun facts about herself, that blogging friends may not know. She encouraged others to share too - so here's a few things about me you may not know. Especially if you're newer here.

*I know you probably know I live on a bay in the northwoods of WI - but did you know that if you go a little ways out of my bay you will be in Lake Superior. It is one of the Great Lakes and it's the largest freshwater lake in the world. It's also the coldest and deepest of the Great Lakes. And it's where the Edmund Fitzgerald sunk (the one in the Gordon Lightfoot song). I often pontoon on Lake Superior - but we respect her and are very careful.

*I can't stand mushrooms. The texture to me is like rubber and they taste metallic to me.

*I have a heart "ring" tattoo on my right hand ring finger. It's red and the outline of it and  "band" that wraps on each side of my finger is in black (with some blue highlights behind) and makes a sideways letter "A" which is the first initial of both of my kiddos names.

*Red is my favorite color

*I have a form of synesthesia where I see numbers and letters as masculine and feminine and some have personalities to me. For example I see a lot of odd numbers as male - but 9 to me is feminine and is a tomboy. I've had it my whole life and just thought everyone did when I was young.

*I had a "tickle blanket" when I was a kid and I sucked my finger and had to have my blanket to rub my face. I had the blanket until I was in 6th grade and still sucked my finger a bit into junior high school.

*My daughter is my biological daughter, but she was carried by my sister-in-law because I had preeclampsia with my son and almost died...so they told me not to get pregnant again. So my ex husband was on her birth certificate and so was my SIL and I had to go before the courts to "adopt" my own biological daughter to have the birth certificate changed to my name as birth mother.

*I love to golf (& play other sports) and I hope to live in AZ on a golf course in the winters one day. (that's Matt's plan too thankfully 😂 )

*I love to watch jeopardy every day and just love trivia in general. My kiddos think I'm smart - but I really just have a pretty good memory for that stuff.

I'd love to know more about you too - so please feel free to share some interesting things about yourself!

  1. That was fun! I knew some of those things, but most were new.
I think the synesthesia thing is cool! I like your tattoo. I think the kids are right - you are smart. :) (you are also kind and good, if you read the book...)
I like mushrooms. I don't like cooked broccoli or cauliflower, but will eat it raw and chopped in salads.
I was the youngest in my class from K to 12th grade, and even in nursing school I was the youngest. That's no longer true!
I love to organize things, I'm not a fan of laundry.
I don't have anything fun like synesthesia. :)

  2. Well since I am a newbie I think all except where you live is new to me. I would say you have had a very interesting life.
I think I would like to go somewhere warmer for winter too, I am not enjoying cold weather anymore, but I don't like blazing hot either so I would want to come back for spring through fall :)

  4. Enjoyed learning more about you though I knew a bit about where you lived already ;) You'll have to teach me to play golf sometime or maybe at least how to be better at mini golf? I don't watch Jeopardy every day but I do enjoy trivia, I bet we'd have fun on a trivia team! Hope you are enjoying your weekend so far.

  5. Hello Carrie! I loved reading all these things about you!! Here's a few things you many not know about me. I live just south of Boston. I adore the show I Love Lucy and wish I lived in the 1950's! I am left handed and my job is doing accounting for a jet company although I secretly wish I went to cooking school because I love to cook and bake. Oh! And my husband and I also love Jeopardy! : )

    1. Thanks Danielle! Love learning more about you too!! Thanks for sharing. 😉 I think I could fit in with the 1950's housewife thing because I adore those styles. Lol And maybe we should both run away to cooking school together? I'd be down for that. xoxo

  6. Loved learning a bit more about you, Carrie! (Sorry, I am catching up a bit with blogging, so late in commenting) I didn't know you lived in Wisconsin - I thought it was Minnesota! I think it is a wonderful story about your daughter's birth. I like your tattoo xx. Synesthesia is something I've never heard of, but wow, so amazing! I used to see the number 4 when I was a small child, and it was always yellow. It would float in front of me! Wouldn't you know, I had 4 children! My kids had blankets and sucked their fingers until pretty old. Caused them all to need orthodontia! One thing you might not know about me is that I started first grade when I was 4! Back then as long as you passed the 'testing' you could start school. I was always the smallest and the youngest in my class and nobody wanted to pick me in PE for basketball! haha! But I made it onto the cheerleading squad and was always the one on top of the pyramid! I was super shy, so this brought me out of my shell. Sending hugs xo K

  7. Thanks Karen! I actually live on the border of WI and MN. So my address is WI....but my daughter goes to school in MN and I do medical appts over there, shopping often etc. It sounds like maybe you had your own version of synesthesia with seeing color in a number like that. I was luckily spared needing braces of anything from sucking my finger. My bro sucked his thumb and was going to need braces - but ended up getting his 2 front teeth knocked out in an accident so they ended up fixing it a different way. Lol
Love learning something new about you! I wasn't the youngest in my class in school - but I was the smallest for many years. I hope you weren't afraid of heights being on the top of pyramids! 😂 Love sharing time here with you always Friend. xo
