Happy Homemaker Monday

Hello and happy new week to you sweet Folks!

I hope you had a great weekend! It was a relaxed one here. We hibernated in a lot because it was so hot and muggy (90's and humid). We had a work crew here cutting 14 - yes 14! dead trees around the property. The ash borer beetle had killed most of them. Some were in spots that we were worried about them falling on the house or our shed in back. So they were the main ones needing to be dealt with. We had them take several others though too. They did such a great job and had amazing equipment and even put down tracks in the yard so as not to hurt it. They cleaned up and hauled all the wood away and I can't say enough what an amazing job they did! So that's a great job done.

This weekend we also went to church and out for dinner and ran errands - kind of the usuals. And we went to a beautiful rose garden in our area which I like to visit each summer. But mostly we hibernated in and watched some movies and the olympics.

I agree with many who were appalled about the opening ceremonies display and mockery of the last supper. I understand that the opening ceremony often shows the host country's culture, music etc. But I don't get how that would be part of their culture seeing as France has always been a very Catholic country? I know people who were saying they were going to ban watching the olympics and I completely understand your anger and standing up for your faith that way. I support that fully.  I was outraged too - but I guess I view it differently as I don't feel the amazing athletes that worked years to get to the olympics, and had nothing to do with planning the opening ceremonies, should be banned from being watched and cheered on. I think the committees that put together the opening ceremony should be to blame and punished - so I direct my disgust there. So Matt & I have been watching the games and it's been fun to see our amazing athletes doing so well already... especially in the women's sports! 💗

But I will say I sure pray for our world every. single. day.

  1. Glad the trees are down and it went so well!
I really like what you said about the Olympics. We haven't watched because we were so frustrated, but you are right about the athletes. And also, I know most French people don't feel that way. I know there are things the US does, and I've said to Bob that I hope the rest of the world knows we don't all feel that way.
Wedding time is right around the corner!

    1. Thanks Mari! I agree that I don't think most French people think that way either and saw statements from them that said the same. Wedding is coming so fast! Aaack!! Lol 💗

  2. Oh wow! That’s a lot of trees! We have one that needs to come down for sure. I hope we can get that done before winter. I worry about ice storms. I agree with your take on the Olympics. Well said. We haven’t watched much at all.

  3. Thank you for your thoughts on the Opening Ceremony. I didn't see it live, but was disgusted at what I did see online. What has this world come to??? I am watching the gymnastics. Then men's finals today were amazing!!!! So excited and happy for you, my friend!!!!!!

    1. Thanks Billie Jo! I agree about wondering what's going on with this world. Sigh I keep my focus on the One who is always taking care of us all and that helps with peace in my mind. Agreed that the gymnastics has been amazing! 💗

  4. I didn't get that out of the ceremony I just took at as a bunch of people watching a fashion show, but like you said either way the competitors had nothng to do with it. France is.a bit more out there anyway.
I love your diamond art that is so pretty. Fun getting all the special things for your wedding. The rose garden is beautiful too!
    Enjoy your upcoming weekend too!

  5. I'm so sorry I'm so late this week! I didn't see the opening ceremony, but probably would have been appalled also to the mockery. I agree though that supporting our athletes is ultimately what has been what had me watching as they did not design that ceremony. I absolutely LOVE your wedding prep - gorgeous knife and cake server. Have a WONDERFUL weekend my friend!
