Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Monday My Friends!

And how was your weekend? Mine was such great fun as we had relatives come visit - so we were busy doing many fun things. ;)  We had adventures, great food, wonderful conversation and just excellent catch up time. From visits to the beach, to pontoon time, to just sitting around the fire and gabbing away. I'm late with this post as we went out to breakfast this morning for our final good-bye and seeing them off on their way back home. Now time to focus on the week ahead!

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

Mid 70's and may hit 80*.  A bit muggy and actually quite overcast and cloudy. I don't think it's supposed to rain until late tonight, though, but it has that feeling in the air. We had perfect weather over the weekend so I'm grateful for that! Sunny and 70's each day and pleasant.

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING:

Went out for breakfast so I had yummy fried eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, whole wheat toast and coffee.

AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:

As I mentioned - very cloudy and overcast, but still a bit bright. I just gave my flowers a bit of drink as I forgot to get to them before I left for our breakfast date this AM. They look cheerful and pretty out my office window.

RIGHT NOW I AM:

Listening to some Celtic music on my computer and sipping my water with good essential oils in it while I work away here in my office. Annie had caught a summer cold and now I've gotten it. So I've been trying to hydrate more and kick it. It's not a bad cold - but still a pain to have the sniffles in the summer! Boo!!

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE:

Overall tidy. I can see the remnants of fun last night when relatives were hanging out here. We did some pontoon time then the younger kids played games while the grown ups sat around the fire and had a glass of wine and visited. We ordered some pizzas from a favorite local place and we had homemade mixed berry pie and ice cream I made for dessert. So some dishes still to finish up, kiddos' games to put away etc.

ON TODAY'S TO DO LIST:

Finish cleaning up some clutter, throw in more laundry and general tidying. Both kiddos have soccer tonight so the hubby and I will need to divide and conquer duties later.

I still have so many things I'd like to catch up on around my office, some reading I'd like to do, and some fun time with my kiddos before school. So I'm thinking I'm going to take more of a break from blogging yet. Maybe another week or 2, other than checking in for Happy Homemaker on Mondays. I'm also planning to use the time for catching up with you - my blogging buds!

CURRENTLY READING:

Nothing really new here.

ON THE TV TODAY:

Mainly the Olympics. I think I have a few taped shows to catch up on. The other night I watched the movie the Age of Adaline when I was up and couldn't sleep. It was actually a very sweet romantic movie.

ON THE MENU THIS WEEK:

MONDAY: leftover pizza, veggie tray and crab dip & crackers from yesterday.

TUESDAY: soccer game so probably something easy (sandwiches?)

WEDNESDAY: breakfast for dinner

THURSDAY: not sure yet - my Son's bday and will let him pick

FRIDAY: BBQ for my son's soccer team

WHAT I AM CREATING AT THE MOMENT:

I can't wait to put more focus here as I have several things I want more time to work on!

NEW RECIPE I WANT TO TRY THIS WEEK:

TIP OF THE WEEK:

I would never have guessed this! Interesting to me as my Dad has had a beard for as long as I can ever remember. ;)

Beating the Heat and a Little Blog Break

Hello my dear sweet Friends!!

I hope that wherever you are - you're not burning up like we've been doing here today.  It was overcast (& very muggy) earlier in the AM, and we did get a little bit of rain, but it's been full sun the rest of the day and close to 90*....and just humid feeling. Yuck! We northerners aren't used to these days and I think we suffer extra for them. Lol  We're known as being pretty tough folks  - but throw a hot humid day at us and we're a bunch of wimps!

I had to take Ruby to the vet earlier and run a few more errands. We have a soccer game to go to tonight for Annie and I'm NOT looking forward to sitting out there! I want to stay in my air conditioning!! But enough of my whining...

I've been beating the heat today by working on some things in my office.

I LOVE this new planner I picked up from Michael's. I was told how wonderful they were by my blog buddy Row at Coffee with Row.  She told me they were even doing classes about how to use them and decorate them up! It just fits in perfectly with my scrapbooking world here - so I was all over it! ;)  I have a bunch of fun washi tapes and different stickers to use. I also got a pack of stickers just related to health and working out goals. The calendar lays nice and flat and has a flat marker pen with it - plus the stickers to add in the months, days of the months, sayings, stars, hearts, arrows etc to mark special events. There is a holder in the front to hold the stickers or other things. Then the basic layout of the whole month, and then pages for each week with the day of the week and a column below it to write in what you want. I'm planning on using mine to keep track of birthdays, my blogging stuff and my exercise all in one spot. Plus, I'm having fun decorating it up too! Love it!!!  As you can see I've started planning ahead and was working on next month.

I also had fun picking out some new flowers as they were on sale 40% off and I couldn't pass that up. We're planning on changing a few things in Annie's room this Fall and we have plans for these pretty pale peachy-pink lacy roses. Plus I have plans of my own for the hydrangea and branches I grabbed too.

Whooooo's hot?? I AM!!!

Love this owl that I picked up at a local specialty shop in our area. They make a lot of their own items (like this adorable owl) and reimagine uses of old things (like furniture, doors, windows, doorknobs etc) by reusing existing older items and making them new in some way again....just in a different way. I love browsing in there! I couldn't pass this sweetie up and love that she's in Fall colors - and is it bad that I can't wait that Autumn is finally right around the corner??

We have relatives coming for a visit this weekend and I've been tidying some things up. Thus, that's also why I'm working in my office - only a little bit of play and a lot more organization and clean up. My house just needs a good deeper clean anyway, so that's my focus this whole week. I'm going to take a little break from posting and hope to be back for Happy Homemaker on Monday.  I still plan to catch up on my blog comments soon and come around and visit you Friends when I'm able to though. It will be a nice clean up time for my blog and my house. Until then - blessings to you! ;)

Happy Homemaker Monday

Hello and Happy Monday!

I'm getting to this post a bit late, but still wanted to say hello and share good wishes on the week ahead! It was busy long weekend as we were gone for my daughter's hockey tourney from Thursday through last night. So today I have been playing catch up with my house, running errands, and getting my son to his soccer. Sports and more sports - such is life right now! However, one day it will be really quiet around here and I'll say I miss all this crazy...so trying to enjoy these moments too. The hockey weekend was busy as my hubby was busy  needed coaching another hockey team as well as my daughter's! But  it was a fun  weekend too. We got in some fun time with friends and parents on the team, Annie had fun with her friends - especially on the water slide in the hotel pool, and her team took 2nd place in the tourney! Not bad at all. ;)

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:

It was a lovely day today in the upper 70's. Blue skies and fluffy white clouds when I was out running errands. Cooling down a little now. It's been getting chilly some nights already! In the early AM today, when my Mom was up with her puppy, she said it was only in the upper 40's!! Yes... I mean like 48 degrees F!!  It's where I live folks - in the true NORTHwoods.

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE THIS MORNING:

I think I had 1/2 of a bagel if I remember correctly and a cup of coffee.

AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:

I'm in my office this early evening hour. I see Ruby running around in our front driveway. She likes to be out there late in the day and watch for my hubby to drive up at the end of the work day.

RIGHT NOW I AM:

Listening to the George Ezra pandora station and working on my schedule for the week and the grocery list. We have several soccer games to watch this week and Ruby has a vet appointment. I need to do some cooking for my in-law's...as I've been more relaxed lately this summer.  Things are stable in that world - as I know some of you have asked about updates on my MIL. I'll do a full post about her soon.

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE:

More tidy now that I worked on cleaning up from being gone all weekend. My daughter has been playing with her friends - so some of their clutter around. We have some relatives coming to visit this next weekend so I need to do a bit more deep cleaning everywhere this week!

ON TODAY'S TO DO LIST:

I accomplished most of what I had planned on my list today. I'm still trying to decide if I want to tackle groceries soon? Or a different day this week.

CURRENTLY READING:

I've been all over the place here - and I've even picked up my first ::gasp:: "Fall" magazine! I have dabbled folks, I"m not gonna lie. I have had little moments of thinking of Fall and I was in a Michael's store over the tourney weekend and picked up a few Fall items!! But I promise I'm still mostly invested in summer yet and enjoying every moment I'm able! It's just that where I live - August is usually "pre-Fall". I even saw my first full geese formation "fly-over" above our house a few days ago!

ON THE TV TODAY:

I have no idea what I have taped and yet to watch. We have been watching the Olympics, though, whenever we get a chance!!

ON THE MENU THIS WEEK:

MONDAY: no idea honestly. Going to raid the fridge & cabinets & come up with something

TUESDAY: maybe tacos (haven't made for my FIL in a while & he loves)

WEDNESDAY: taco salad and leftovers

THURSDAY: something easy to have after soccer?

FRIDAY: grilling burgers & chili lime chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, green salad

WHAT I AM CREATING AT THE MOMENT:

Several things in the works or planned! I need school to start and not have to spend so much time being a chauffeur and dealing with kiddo activities!! Lol

NEW RECIPE I WANT TO TRY THIS WEEK:

Not sure yet

TIP OF THE WEEK:

I know if we have some of the paint leftover, my hubby has often painted a little swipe of the color on the lid for easier spotting that can too.
