Five on Friday:Signs of Fall

It's so fun to be back to our 5 on Friday - thanks Amy! Now that it's September the Fall signs seem to be everywhere around my northwoods these days. Some very obvious ones too - like geese flying over every day and chillier nights. Here are a few more sure signs of Fall to me:


ONE



No more regular walks to the park with my daughter and her friends so they could play on the playground. We tried to pack a lot more of that in during the final days of August - but now that she's in school I walk with Ruby.  And during our walks this is more and more what I'm seeing, yep the changing color of the leaves has begun!




TWO





Celebrating our son's birthday is always a sign of Fall to me. His birthday is in late August so it's usually one of the last "events" of our summer (although this year we also did the Mn State fair). He actually let me capture a few photos too. So you can see the final results of the sporty birthday bunting I made for him - although the big cookie wasn't strong enough to hold the 2nd post so I had to improvise and put it in a glass. He loved the cake with his favorite team's colors (notice his hat). I love the photo of his sister giving him candle blowing out advice. Lol  It's extra frightening as we're now talking about driver's permits. Pray for me!




THREE

The nights have been coming earlier and earlier. It gets dark about an hour or more earlier than it did during the summer already. This was a photo I captured of a beautiful full moon at a party a friend of ours had just a week or so ago. They have a lovely property out in the country and even have horses and chickens! (notice the horse below the moon)



FOUR

I've been getting back to my scrapbooking better and my daughter and I are even finally finishing up her "girls rule" cross stitch. We started it this summer, but it quickly got thrown aside for bike rides and trampoline time. She is back to being interested in it - so that's a sure sign of Fall!



FIVE



And back-to-school has officially happened as of this week - the surest sign of all it's Fall!

    Our summer has been a bit changeable this year, we could do with another burst of sun before we head fully to Autumn. Your trees are definitely starting to change colour. Have a good week :-)

    Our summer has not been the best this year some cooler than average days and lots of rain, so we were hoping for a prolonged summer to maybe catch a little sun. Autumn is definitely arriving there with the changing of the leaves, which are a beautiful sight.

    That backpack is almost as big as her! There are definitely signs of change in my garden, with some of the foliage starting to develop the autumn reds and golds.

      Thanks Amy! Oh I wish our driving didn't start until 17 here! He's able to get a permit to practice driving at 15 but can't get an official license until he's 16....and even then it's kind of "probationary" and there are strict rules for awhile for when he can drive and what kinds of passengers he's allowed to have.

    Oh yes, autumn is on the way, isn't it? Sadly no sign of an Indian Summer here. Happy birthday to Aaron, I love the candle blowing out advice photo! My son has to put up with a lot of "advice" from his two little sisters...

    I cannot wait until the leaves start changing colors. That Birthday cookie looks so yummy. I know what you mean about driver’s permits. With the twins, my son was more interested in driving than my daughter, she just got her permit and she will be 20 next week. But my middle son will be 15 in February and he’s hinting about his permit.

    I really need to pull out my cross-stitch project, I think I said this same thing when you talked about it when she started it, LOL. #procrastinator

    I've noticed leaves changing too Carrie, and I was thinking 'good...then I can get 'free' decor for the Fall House Tour' lol.

    But I'm not a fan of it getting darker so early, but compared to the dead of winter when it's dark by 4, I guess I shouldn't complain.

    Don't worry about your son driving. He'll be fine, and just think...no more carpooling!

      I love that free northwoods yard "shopping" too Doreen! Lol

      I don't like the early nights either - but does definitely beat winter's early hours!!

      There will definitely be something to be said for not having to take him everywhere! An one day he can drive his sister too.

    Love your 'signs of fall', Carrie. Summer goes by so quickly, but it looks like you have made the best of it. Cute photos of the kiddos. Oh, it's learner's permit time.....I can sympathize.       I think that Ad will need to take on the teaching job as well...I have a feeling there'd be a lot of yelling and "Oh my Lord - save us!" going on in the car if I take him. Lol!

    I love this! I'm waiting for our trees to start changing here. They should start soon since it's been chilly and rainy. Can you believe another school year has started? They years seem to fly by these days. I don't have any more at home but I am away that school starting means holidays are just around the corner. CRAZY!

      I know Tori - it's come so quickly! But I shouldn't be surprised it seems to sneak up every year. Lol

      Although I miss my kiddos at moments...I'm also enjoying the quiet and productivity. And I'm already thinking ahead to planning some Christmas gifts and other holiday things as I know that will sneak up too!
